Vaccine Hesitation & Education with Dr. Daniel Kalla

Vaccine Hesitation & Education with Dr. Daniel Kalla

Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 8:00 PM

According to a December 2020 study, 14% of Canadians say they would refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine, and a recent report from the CBC shows that there are even thousands of hospital workers choosing to not take the vaccines they are eligible to receive. Vaccines are a major tool to help us end the Covid pandemic, yet despite the scientific and medical communities consistently affirming their safety and effectiveness, many Canadians are against them. At the heart of this problem is fear and misinformation, some of it spread maliciously and some of it spread in good faith with negative outcomes. As the head of ER at Vancouver’s St. Paul’s Hospital, Dr. Daniel Kalla has been fighting on the front lines and has become one of Canada’s go-to pandemic experts. He is also a vocal champion for the safety and importance of vaccination, both in the media and within his hospital. Dr. Kalla is also a bestselling author, whose new book Lost Immunity tackles vaccine hesitancy through an exciting and educational thriller format. He will be in conversation with The Globe and Mail Western Arts Correspondent Marsha Lederman.
