The roots of the Political Correctness movement can be found, deep, in socio-linguistic philosophies. Are Israelis really “ruder” than others? When does a word go out of fashion?

Could change a reality by changing our language? Or maybe – our reality determines the scope of our language?

Word Taboo, Political Correctness movement and  language as a tool for social change.

In this event we will discuss the reciprocal relations between language and society.

The lecture will be led by Yaniv Cohen,  B.A in Hebrew Culture and Linguistics, a Hebrew teacher and an activist in the movement for LGBTQ teachers in the Israeli education system.

Yaniv was a UJA’s ShinShin in Toronto in 2009-2010 and takes part in Shevet, the Toronto ShinShinim Alumni
