In September 1972, 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team were murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Munich, Germany. Not only did the International Olympic Committee fail to properly recognize the horrific tragedy, but the games proceeded as normal, as if nothing unusual ever occurred - and they have refused to recognize the Munich Massacre for 23 Olympic Games and counting.Ankie Spitzer, the wife of murdered Israeli Olympic coach, Andre Spitzer, has spent the last 49 years advocating for 1 minute of silence to be held at an Olympic Games in memory of Israel’s slain athletes. Joe Allen, with the help of JCC Rockland, produced this spectacular documentary showing what is being done to bring light and recognition to those who perished.

During the 2021 Olympics in Toyko, on July 28th, Ankie will join Virtual JCC, along with Joe Allen (Director of the documentary), and David Kirschtel (CEO, JCC Rockland), to discuss the ongoing struggle for justice, where we stand today in the fight for 1 minute of silence, and the role of the JCC movement in helping to finally fulfill the mission of this campaign.
